American Red Cross Infant CPR Class: Learn how to overcome any reluctance to act in emergency situations and to recognize and care for life threatening respiratory or cardiac emergencies in infants (under the age of 12 months) during this one-hour class. This class incorporates DVD segments with hands on practice of skills on life like infant CPR manikins. Each couple will receive a laminated skills card that has easy-to-read instructions and full-color photographs that present complex skills in a step-by-step manner. The skills card also provides instruction for using an AED on a child between the ages of 1 and 8, and includes information on Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS), choking prevention and poison control.

Note: These classes do not include American Red Cross certification. American Red Cross certification can be obtained after attending either class and an additional written exam. Cost of the certification card is in addition to the class.

Instructor: Laurian Horowitz
About the Instructor:
Laurian is a 2009 graduate of the University of Denver with Bachelor of Science degrees in Biology and Animal Technology. Laurian is also a 2009 graduate of the Bel-Rea Institute of Animal Technology having graduated with honors and an Associate of Applied Science in Veterinary Technology. Laurian anticipates becoming a certified veterinary technician in September 2009 having already successfully completed the Veterinary Technician National Exam in June of 2009. Laurian has been an American Red Cross lifeguard for 7 years, teaching swimming for 6 years, and was a National Registry EMT-B for 3 years.
